Welcome From the Centennial Chair
Dear Alumni and Friends,
It is my pleasure to present to you some of the exciting work that has taken place as we progress toward our Centennial Birthday Celebration. The Centennial Birthday Committee, comprising parents, faculty, staff, and alumni representatives by decade is working diligently to plan events that will honor 100 years of Belmont Hill history. We are also excited to work with the student leadership team to involve these young men in shaping this historic moment.
A special custom-designed Centennial logo has been created, which you will see on our communications and decorative items. Also, a book celebrating 100 years of character education is in process. The book will be largely pictorially driven and will include quotes from alumni, trustees, faculty and former faculty, and other friends and members of the Belmont Hill community. And, of course, we have built this wonderful Centennial microsite, which features an array of archival material, video, a historical timeline of key Belmont Hill milestones, as well as news and announcements.
In September of this year, Centennial banners will be placed throughout the campus. Beginning in January of 2023, we will hold regular thematic events on campus, honoring 100 years of faculty, academics, athletics, arts, and Chapel Talks, respectively. These events will culminate in the eagerly awaited Centennial Birthday Celebration on Friday, October 13th, 2023.
Please enjoy this microsite and we look forward to seeing you on campus often as this exciting celebration unfolds. I leave you with the words of our founding Head of School, R. Heber Howe. As we begin to celebrate 100 years of this school we so love, it is especially rewarding to know that his vision is still being realized today.
“The School’s future depends on the continuance of the spirit of helpful cooperation among us all. If we have established such a spirit as a school tradition, we have placed a vital and enduring cornerstone in the School’s foundation.”

In everything that is done at Belmont Hill, whether it is extracurricular activities, athletics classroom work, family-style lunch, school meetings, or simply "around campus;' we continue to make a concerted effort to inculcate in Belmont Hill students the values for which this school has long stood.__________________________________

On one level, I look forward to both honoring the past and looking to the future for the School. On another level, the joy of bringing together the members of Belmont Hill's extraordinary extended community is exciting.

Belmont Hill has an incredibly strong community of alumni, past and current parents, and past and current faculty. What an exciting opportunity to bring all those people together under a tent on campus and celebrate 100 years of educating men of character. I most look forward to that night!

As the School Archivist, it brings me no greater joy than to celebrate Belmont Hill and its history. I learned quickly that the members of our community care about this school deeply, and I look forward to connecting the community to our history to strengthen that even more.

I am honored to be on the 100th anniversary committee. Belmont Hill has been a part of my family since 1923 when my father and his two brothers entered this new school. I entered Belmont Hill in 1960, and after college I returned to the Hill as a teacher-coach in 1972. My son entered in 1985, graduated in 1991 and continues to be a loyal alumnus.

Having been here for the 75th Anniversary of the school, I am looking forward to reflecting on all that has happened in the last 25 years since that incredible celebration. At the same time, I am very excited to consider the last 25 years in the context of the celebrating the entire 100-year history of the School.
